I doubt if it will be as cut and dry as that. I see several potential issues that may still arise with the city. First and formost, our ability to even privatize an existing neighborhood within city limits. My theory is that the suggestion of a gate was met with the off the cuff suggestion that we would now have to pay for all our own street manitenance and privatize our neighborhood and that would be enough of a deterrant for us to drop that thought. If we were to persue this as an actual option, we would have a whole sleu of new reasons why that cannot be achieved. Don't forget about streetlights! Or are they county owned and maintained? I don't recall. I honestly do not mean to sound negative, just playing devil's advocate here. I have personally had enough dealings with the city to have developed a gut feeling here. I owned a business for 11 years in this town. You learn a thing or two. A new subdivision = new money for the city. The builder basically has the upper hand here.
